Carded yarn
Yarn that is opened and aligned but not combed — the standard for fleece and denim.
Carding removes the largest impurities but leaves short fibres in the yarn. The result is rougher, weaker and more prone to pilling than combed yarn, and cheaper.
Carded is entirely appropriate for fleece, denim and promotional knits. It is only a problem when it is sold as “soft cotton” at a combed price.
