Rib
A knit with vertical ridges that stretches widthways, used for cuffs and neckbands.
Rib alternates knit and purl stitches to create vertical ridges. It stretches more than jersey and recovers well, which is why it is used for neckbands, cuffs and hems.
1x1 and 2x2 are the common structures. A 2x2 rib is heavier and used for cuffs and waistbands; 1x1 is used for finer neckbands.
